I purchased a 2005 Grand Cherokee 5.7 that "needed a head gasket" for very cheap. Upon further inspection it dropped two valve seats. One on cylinder 1, one on cylinder 8. At this point I should have decided to put in another engine.. unfortunately I didn't. Cylinder 1s seat got stuck and did not touch or damage the piston.
My 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 hemi is doing the same things. It will ding, check engine light will flash and and it will jerk and gear down, it has made my back tires screech it does it so hard, then it will go back to normal gear. It's done this multiple times before and it's done it to my mechanic as well. That being said, I just finished up today 9/30/20 my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 5.7 Hemi 156,000 miles cam and lifter replace. The 1 main lifter that went bad in mine was also a non MDS lifter it was intake lifter #3cyl and lifter in #8 cyl just started to do damage to the cam. So, both being non MDS.I have 5,7 Hemi 2006, 30 miles way to work daily and i have average consumption 8-9ltrs/100km (about 31 - 35mpg) Jeep Grand Cherokee 2006, 5,7 HEMI, US Limited 4xGuard F&R skid plates, OME HD coils, CB Albrecht AE 6690, Hella FF200, Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S 245/75R17, 30mm spacers, Bilstein 5100 F&R, DynoMax 3" muffler w/ Magnaflow 3" - nodPUPgBu.
